What is COBALT®?
COBALT® is a ceiling-mounted air purification system designed for dental practices, medical offices, and commercial spaces where floor space is valuable. Available in 2'×2' (430 CFM) and 2'×4' (1,171 CFM) configurations, it replaces standard ceiling tiles and requires no floor footprint. Each unit features dual turbo fans for consistent circulation, smart occupancy sensors that automatically adjust performance, and MERV 16 HEPA-RX filtration capturing 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns. An illuminated logo indicator alerts when filters need replacement. The optional HEPA Carbon Hybrid filter adds odor and VOC control for procedural environments.
Intelligent Ceiling-Level Purification
Dual Turbo Fans
Two powerful fans work in tandem to maximize airflow and ensure consistent circulation across the entire room—no dead zones.
Smart Occupancy Sensors
Proximity sensors detect room activity and automatically adjust fan speed. Empty room = energy saving. Occupied = full performance.
Filter Alert Indicator
The illuminated logo flashes when filters need replacement. No guesswork, no maintenance schedules to track—the unit tells you.
Zero Floor Footprint
In clinical environments, every square foot matters. COBALT® mounts directly into your ceiling grid, freeing up valuable floor space for equipment, patient flow, and wheelchair accessibility.
- No trip hazards — Nothing on the floor for patients or staff
- Wheelchair accessible — Maintains clear pathways
- Clean aesthetics — Blends with ceiling, not an eyesore
- Easy cleaning — Floor beneath remains fully accessible

Everything you need to know about COBALT® ceiling air purification.
What's the difference between the 2'×2' and 2'×4' models?
The 2'×2' covers up to 861 sq ft at 70 W and fits a standard 24"×24" ceiling tile opening—ideal for individual operatories or small offices. The 2'×4' covers up to 2,152 sq ft at 250 W in a 24"×48" footprint, designed for larger spaces like open bays, waiting rooms, or conference areas. Both use MERV 16 HEPA-RX filtration with dual filter design.
How quiet is COBALT® during operation?
Extremely quiet. The 2'×2' operates at 22.5 dB on low—quieter than a whisper—up to 47.5 dB at maximum. The 2'×4' ranges from 30.6 to 51.9 dB. Both are designed for clinical environments where patient comfort and communication matter.
How often do filters need replacement?
The H13 HEPA filter typically lasts up to one year under normal use. The optional HEPA Carbon Hybrid filter, which adds odor and VOC control, should be replaced every six months. The illuminated logo flashes when it's time for replacement.
Can COBALT® remove odors from dental procedures?
Yes, when equipped with the optional HEPA Carbon Hybrid Filter. The activated carbon layer adsorbs volatile organic compounds (VOCs), chemical fumes, and procedural odors. The standard HEPA filter captures particles but not gases or odors.
What ceiling type is required?
COBALT® installs into standard suspended ceiling grids (drop ceilings) with 15/16" T-bar. The 2'×2' replaces a 24"×24" ceiling tile; the 2'×4' replaces a 24"×48" tile. Professional installation is recommended due to unit weight (44-96 lbs) and electrical requirements.
What do the smart sensors actually do?
The proximity sensors detect room occupancy and automatically adjust fan speed in Auto Mode. When the room is empty, the unit runs at minimum to conserve energy and extend filter life. When movement is detected, it ramps up to maintain air quality during active use.
