Installation Resources

Everything you need for successful installation — from portable unit placement to COBALT ceiling installation specifications.

Portable Unit Setup

JADE 2.0, QUARTZAIR, and ONYX require no professional installation.

1

Unbox & Inspect

Remove unit from packaging. Verify all components are present. Check for shipping damage.

2

Position Unit

Place in desired location with 6" minimum clearance on all sides. Avoid corners — central placement provides best circulation.

3

Connect Power

Plug into standard 120V outlet. Dedicated circuit recommended for continuous operation. Avoid extension cords.

4

Power On

Turn on unit. Allow 24 hours initial run-time for optimal filter conditioning.

Placement Best Practices

  • Dental Operatories: Position near treatment area but not directly in patient breathing zone. 3-4 feet from chair is typical.
  • Waiting Rooms: Central location away from main traffic paths. Avoid blocking HVAC vents.
  • Exam Rooms: Near provider work area. Ensure air intake isn't obstructed by furniture or curtains.
  • Open Spaces: Distribute units evenly. For QUARTZAIR covering large areas, position for maximum airflow overlap.

COBALT In-Ceiling Installation

Professional installation required. These specifications are for qualified contractors.

Ceiling Requirements

  • Standard 2' × 2' T-bar ceiling grid
  • Minimum 12" plenum space above ceiling
  • Ceiling grid must support 45 lbs
  • Accessible for maintenance

Electrical Requirements

  • 120V / 60Hz / 15A circuit
  • Dedicated circuit recommended
  • Hard-wired connection (no plug)
  • Junction box within 6' of unit location

Unit Dimensions

  • Width: 23.75" (fits 24" grid)
  • Depth: 23.75"
  • Height: 10.5" above ceiling
  • Below-ceiling: 1.5" trim ring

Airflow

  • Air intake: Through ceiling grille
  • Air output: Through ceiling grille
  • CFM: 250 (adjustable)
  • Coverage: Up to 600 sq ft

Installation Steps

  1. Site Survey: Verify ceiling grid type, plenum clearance, and electrical access. Identify optimal placement for coverage.
  2. Electrical Prep: Install junction box with appropriate circuit. Run conduit/wiring to installation point. Verify proper grounding.
  3. Grid Preparation: Remove ceiling tile at installation point. Install support wires to building structure if grid reinforcement needed.
  4. Unit Installation: Lift unit into ceiling cavity. Secure to grid with provided clips. Connect electrical per wiring diagram.
  5. Trim & Test: Install trim ring. Power on unit. Verify all speeds operate. Check for vibration or noise.
Professional Installation Required

COBALT installation should only be performed by qualified electrical contractors familiar with commercial ceiling systems. Improper installation may void warranty.
