Surgically Clean Air Battles Unhealthy Air in One of North America’s Busiest Arenas so the LA Kings Can Continue Their Winning Ways

Client

The Los Angeles Kings compete in the National Hockey League (NHL). The team was founded on June 5, 1967, making it one of the older USA-based NHL teams. They have played in many arenas over their storied history, and today they call the Crypto.com Arena in Downtown Los Angeles their home. The team has had many notable players, including Wayne Gretzky, who took them to the Stanley Cup final in 1993. Since then, the LA Kings have hoisted the Stanley Cup Championship trophy in 2012 and 2014.

Client need

The Crypto.com Arena is one of the busiest Arenas in North America, serving as home to LA Kings (NHL), LA Lakers (NBA), LA Clippers (NBA) and the LA Sparks (WNBA), as well as being one of the busiest concerts and entertainment complexes. With so many people coming and going through the facility over 250 event days per year, the LA Kings wanted to make sure that their portions of the arena were as healthy for the athletes as possible – and this included the air. Unfortunately, the air in their locker room and other facilities not only becomes contaminated by the hockey players themselves, but the atmosphere is also contaminated from the HVAC system that supplies air throughout the building coming from all the other teams’ areas and the event patrons.

The LA Kings also practice in a public facility (Toyota Sports Performance Center) shared by many visitors to skate. With all of the people coming and going, they needed to ensure that the air in their portions of the practice facility was clean and healthy.

Surgically Clean Air solution

After attending the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society (PHATS) Annual Meetings in 2019, the Head Athletic Trainer placed his first order for 6 Surgically Clean Air Commercial air purifiers. These were installed in the locker rooms and sports medicine rooms at the Toyota Sports Performance Center and the Staples Center.

Results

The Los Angeles Kings staff and athletes were so pleased with the Surgically Clean Air units that they placed multiple orders for more units, including Surgically Clean Air Jades, to be used in both facilities.
