The Problem

 

Poor Indoor Air Quality can have a negative effect on people's health, and productivity.  In most modern buildings harmful germs, viruses and other contaminants can reach very high concentration levels and the close proximity of people within them can allow illnesses to spread quickly.  In fact up to 90% of diseases can spread person to person through indoor air, not just through physical contact.

 

Unfortunately, most [less expensive] air re-ciculators and air cleaners available on the market today have inadequate filters, simplistic technology, and very low airflow.  So you have to run their fan speeds so high that the noise prevents people from being able to talk or think near them, and even worse, you have to replace their very expensive filters very frequently - all to receive only a moderate air cleaning benefit.

Our Story

Marshal Sterio and Doug Eaton were high school friends, who after both having had successful +20 year careers, started on an unlikely journey to revolutionize the rapidly growing Indoor Air Cleaning industry worldwide.

 

After years as an arbitrage expert, Marshal had experience helping companies that need to create value from their diverse range of distressed inventories. This led him to discover an oversupply of specialized air purifiers that were invented as a rapid response to the SARS epidemic for hospitals in Canada.   Seeing the increasing need for high quality indoor air cleaners, he bought the container and made his first sale to his  dentist.

 

Soon thereafter, he and Doug created Surgically Clean Air.  With Doug's extensive experience in Direct Selling of Premium Priced Technology Solutions for Offices and Homes... they quickly began selling to Dentists, Medical Labs, Professional Sports teams, Sports Clubs and Banking Headquarters in Canada, the US and the Middle East.

Fast forward a few years, and they met Mark Clawsey, the third founder, who is a 4th generation HVAC specialist that had developed his own company - Ecoair - focused on large air cleaning and purification solutions for large warehouses and industrial environments. With Mark’s technical leadership, they invented their next generation Canadian designed models which offer a quantum leap from any other air purifier in the marketplace anywhere in the world today. Today major companies like Walmart Canada rely on Mark's technology to manage the indoor air in their warehouses.

 

Andrew Barrett is the fourth Executive member.  He is a Global marketing leader who has developed transformational brand campaigns the world over for brands like Molson, P&G and Canadian Tire.  At Surgically Clean Air he is applying his depth in strategic marketing, product branding, and social media campaigns, combined with his Global experience in the electronics, and appliance industries with LG and Samsung, to elevate the company from a great product company into a Great Brand.

Chief Executive Officer

Marshal Sterio has +15 years as president of a media buying and finance company in Canada which serviced Fortune 500 companies and their senior management in Canada and the USA.  As an expert in arbitrage, Marshal had broad experience with these companies when they needed to create value from their diverse range of distressed inventories.  As a Founder, and CEO of Surgically Clean Air, his role is to engage with Investors, Large Customers and opening up the brand and its offerings to new markets and industries.

 

Douglas Eaton

Chief Operating Officer

Douglas Eaton has +27 years experience in developing in the selling of household goods such as high end vacuum cleaners, air purifiers and water filtration equipment largely through direct channels.  Through his efforts, he has developed a deep knowledge of sales lead generation, selling into new sectors, and training and motivating sales staff in premium products.   As a Founder and COO of Surgically Clean Air, his role is to lead the sales organization to maximize sales within the existing channels, to expand within new channels and lead the service and office staff functions.

 

Mark Clawsey

Chief Technology Officer

Mark Clawsey is an experienced HVAC designer with education in Computational Fluid Dynamics and 10+ years experience in Technical Project Management.  Mark is a 4’th generation HVAC professional. In fact, his grandfather is the inventor of cutting-edge commercial HVAC systems that are being utilized to this day.  Mark started the Ecoair business which offers innovative and highly cost effective air cleaning systems for large warehouses and manufacturing spaces for clients like WalMart.  Through this experience he has a keen understanding of commercial air cleaning needs and how to develop innovative solutions that more effectively and efficiently clean air than other solutions available on the market today.  As a Founder and CTO of Surgically Clean Air his role will be to develop, patent and commercialize the next generation air cleaning systems that will ready to go to market in 2016.

 

Andrew Barrett

Andrew began his +25 year career in packaged goods at P&G, and then went on to work as a marketer for companies including Pillsbury, Molson, JWT, LG, Samsung, Canadian Tire and Cisco. Andrews career highlights include: (i) leading the famous 'I AM Canadian' campaign at Molson 2000-2002, (ii) being named Strategy Magazine' Marketer of the Year, (ii) working as a Global VP for LG which saw him work in over 40 countries, and (iii) leading world class programs for Samsung, Canadian Tire and others.  His experience as a transformational brand leader has gained experience in the electronics, appliance and mobile phone industries.  As CMO for Surgically Clean Air he will lead the development of the strategic marketing plans, product branding, and developing highly successful social media campaigns to elevate the company from a great product company into a great Brand.

 

Todd Buchanan

VP Corporate Development

Todd Buchanan works with companies of all sizes including Fortune-500 companies, on vision, strategy and execution excellence.  Todd has held senior executive positions including: President and CEO, Vice President Marketing & Sales, VP & General Manager of Operations and Managing Director. Todd also advises and serves on the boards of a number of companies.  At Surgically Clean Air he is responsible for Investor Relations.
